County seeks operator for public golf courses

Rochester Business Journal

Monroe County will assume maintenance responsibilities for its three municipal golf courses in 2015 and is seeking a vendor to provide those services, officials said Friday.

Public courses Churchville Park, Durand Eastman Park and Genesee Valley Park have been managed and operated by Jack Tindale Inc. since 1997. Tindale and the county have agreed to end that contract as of Dec. 31, 2014, three years earlier than agreed to originally, officials said.

The county is accepting expressions of interest to provide management and customer-related services such as collecting fees, scheduling tee times, organizing leagues, handicapping, renting golf carts and selling merchandise, food and beverages.

Submissions are due Feb. 7. The county expects to select a vendor later this year, officials said.

It's about time the county addressed the deplorable condition of the county courses. They should have gotten rid of Tindale years ago.
