FLTG's fiber-optic network reaches 1,000 miles

Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc. now has a 1,000-mile fiber-optic network connecting 20 cities and towns in Upstate New York.

FLTG reached the milestone by reinvesting its own resources into the network, without using any public funding, the company said. It provides broadband Internet and telecom services, and it targets local customers by securing individual loops built specific to that customer.

The company connects cities including Rochester, Binghamton, Buffalo, Corning and Syracuse, along with areas in Ontario, Wayne and nearby counties. The company plans to expand its service to Cortland in the months ahead.
With more than 100 years in the industry of telecommunications, the company has evolved to provide data and Internet services to its customers, officials said.

FLTG, based in Victor, and its parent companies employ 100 people combined and have offices in Buffalo, Phelps, Romulus and Trumansburg.
