Bausch & Lomb Inc. and microscope maker Leica Microsystems Inc. have struck a deal allowing the eye-care company to distribute Leica ophthalmic surgery microscopes and accessories, Bausch & Lomb officials said Tuesday.

“Leica Microsystems is a trusted, established brand in the industry and the company is known for their innovative microscopes and scientific instruments,” said John Barr, president of Bausch & Lomb Global Surgical. “We are excited to offer Leica surgical microscopes.”

The deal gives Bausch & Lomb rights beginning this month to distribute Leica ophthalmic surgery products in select U.S., European, Indian and Latin American markets and allows for the relationship to be expanded in future years.
