Verizon Wireless Inc. is continuing the aggressive rollout of its high-speed 4G LTE network in New York State.

The company announced Wednesday it recently launched 4G LTE network coverage in seven sites in Rochester and surrounding areas. The sites are located in Rochester, Brighton, Sodus, Walworth, Clyde, Savannah and Conesus.

Verizon Wireless said its 4G LTE network is 10 times faster than 3G. The company said it has made its 4G network available to more than 273 million people in the U.S.

Verizon Wireless’ biggest competitor AT&T Wireless Inc. also has spent the past year expanding its 4G LTE service.

AT&T Wireless Wednesday said it has made its 4G LTE network available in Binghamton. During the past year, the company has upgraded to 4G LTE at sites in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, Ithaca and Watertown.
