The 27th annual Rochester Top 100 luncheon drew nearly 2,000 people to the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Wednesday.

Rochester Business Alliance Inc. and KPMG LLP present the Rochester Top 100 to honor the region’s fastest-growing privately held businesses based upon percentage of revenue growth.

Ironwood Heavy Highway LLC (Terry Tree Service LLC) earned the No. 1 spot on the 2013 Rochester Top 100. The Chili-based companies—led by Thomas Terry III and Timothy Pope—support federal, state and local governments in disaster-relief efforts after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, snow and ice storms, in addition to providing other vegetation management services.

Real estate brokerage firm RE/MAX Realty Group & RE/MAX 1st Commercial and general contractor Manning Squires Hennig Co. Inc. rounded out the top three.

“The Rochester Top 100 is my favorite event of the year,” said Sandra Parker, president and CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance.  “It’s a chance to celebrate the top privately owned companies in our region, many of which don’t get a spotlight shined on them.  These employers truly are the drivers of our local economy.”

Combined, these companies in the last year generated more than $12.3 billion in revenue and employed more than 98,000 people, she said.

To be eligible for the Rochester Top 100, businesses must be privately held, headquartered in the nine-county Rochester region, and have earned at least $1 million in revenue in each of the three most recent fiscal years.
