Assemblyman Reilich to run for Greece town supervisor

March 1, 2013

William Reilich, chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party and a state Assembly representative since 2003, will run for Greece town supervisor, he announced Friday.

Reilich will seek to replace John Auberger, who cannot run because of term limits.

Reilich was a member of the Monroe County Legislature from 1997 to 2002. He was elected to the state Assembly in 2002.

If elected supervisor, Reilich would have to relinquish his Assembly seat.

Greece Democrats have yet to pick a candidate for supervisor.

“The people of Greece want, need and expect leadership that is as good as they are, and under Republican control they haven't had it,” said Joseph Morelle, chairman of the county Democratic Committee, in a statement following Reilich’s announcement. “We intend to make this a vigorous campaign on their behalf.

“It's time for new leadership and a new direction. That's what Democrats will be fighting for in Greece in 2013."
