Vuzix Corp. has been recognized as an “International CES Best of Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award” honoree.

The awards, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, recognize outstanding achievement in the engineering and design of consumer electronics.

Vuzix was honored in two categories for its M100 smart glasses, a hands-free display and communication system that allows users to access data from a smartphone or the Internet. The glasses were picked as the best new technology in the Wireless Handset Accessories category and also were honored in the Personal Electronics category.

“We are honored to win this innovation award, our first Best of Innovations among a competitive field of great inventions,” Vuzix CEO Paul Travers said in a statement. “Vuzix M100 represents our most significant breakthrough yet in design and capability.”
