ConServe, Exelis Geospatial Systems and Unity Hospital led the way in the 2013 Greater Rochester Quality Council Performance Excellence Awards.

GRQC, a Rochester Business Alliance Inc. affiliate, presents the awards as a way to discover, recognize and learn from high-performing organizations in the Greater Rochester area. They were awarded Dec. 3 at a ceremony at Locust Hill Country Club.

The GRQC Performance Excellence Awards recipients in the three categories are:

  • Operations Excellence: Gold Award: Unity Hospital, Silver Award: Thermo Fisher Scientific Labware and Specialty Plastics Division;
  • Customer Excellence: Gold Award: ConServe;
  • Team Excellence: Gold Award: Exelis Geospatial Systems Program Finance Group, Silver Award: Rochester General Hospital Patient Centered Admission Team.

Award criteria emphasized results achieved and the effective use of performance improvement tools and practices such as lean, six sigma, or project management, the agency said.

"GRQC fosters excellence in the products, services, and processes of all organizations and businesses in the community,” said Sandra Parker, president and CEO of Rochester Business Alliance, in a statement. “These awards are a way to recognize and promote the sharing of resources, learning, and expertise in quality principles and practices.”
