Vehicle sales in Monroe County climb in October

Sales of new and used vehicles improved in October, with a 20 percent increase in new-car sales from a year ago, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Monroe County auto dealers sold 3,791 new cars and trucks last month, up from 3,159 a year ago. New-vehicle sales were down slightly from 3,821 in September. Used-car sales improved from 2,012 in October 2012 and 1,696 in September to 2,057 last month.

New-car sales typically decline from September to October, while used-car sales generally improve, RADA historical data show.

Auto dealers sold 5,848 new and used vehicles, combined, in October, up 13 percent from 5,171 a year ago and 6 percent from 5,517 in September.

A total of 58,384 vehicles have been sold in Monroe County since the beginning of the year, up nearly 6 percent from 55,233 during the period a year ago.
