Fisher opens nursing school simulation center

St. John Fisher College officially opened its new Wegmans School of Nursing Simulation Center, a state-of-the-art facility for training and classes on its campus.

Several faculty and staff members were on hand for Tuesday’s ceremony, along with St. John Fisher President Donald Bain and board chairman Victor Salerno.

Construction on the two-story, 10,400-square-foot building began in January and was completed in time for the start of the academic year. The space adds classrooms, faculty offices, and a state-of-the-art simulation center that mirrors a hospital setting, St. John Fisher officials noted.

Bain said the center will help not only St. John Fisher nursing students but also the entire community.

“This is a wonderful day for our nursing students and faculty, but it is also a wonderful day for local health care,” he said. “We are preparing young men and women who will one day be on the front lines of health care, taking care of us, our families, our friends; and they are receiving the best education using the most cutting-edge technology available today.”
