Tops Markets LLC has received top national and state recognition for its beef.
Tops has more than 150 supermarket locations in the Northeast including more than 20 in the Greater Rochester area. So far this year, the chain has been awarded the “New York State Retail Beef Backer Award” from the New York Beef Industry Council, and the 2012 “National Retail Innovator of the Year Award” from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
The awards are funded by the Beef Checkoff Program, which recognizes grocery establishments for their strong marketing and merchandising of beef in the meat case. Tops officials said the company’s beef promotions are driven by its “Real Meat, Real Butchers” program, emphasizing education, taste, value and satisfaction.
“Fresh meat is a key business driver and within our meat departments we are always developing new and exciting ways to promote beef products to our customers,” said Jim Lane, Tops’ director of meat and seafood. “Our customers know that they can rely on Tops to deliver high-quality, safe, fresh beef products every day.”
Based in Williamsville, Erie County, Tops has more than 125 locations in Upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
