The Greater Rochester region is home to 19 colleges and universities with a total of 85,000 students and 19,000 graduates per year, according to Greater Rochester Enterprise. Some of those institutions include Rochester Institute of Technology, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College, SUNY College at Geneseo, and the region’s largest employer: the University of Rochester. The Eastman School of Music is another major draw for students worldwide. There is also a depth in the area’s community colleges. Monroe Community College has the country’s only community college optics program and Finger Lakes Community College offers students a chance to learn about the wine industry; a natural fit as there are over 100 wineries in the region. Higher education in Rochester continues to evolve while maintaining its strong technical and artistic roots.
