Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic has replaced longtime CEO John Galati, moving its chief medical officer into the job in an interim appointment.
The board plans no immediate search for a permanent CEO, hospital spokesman Ethan Fogg said. In addition to Lewis Zulick M.D.’s appointment as interim CEO, Chief Nursing Officer Donna Smith has been named to a new position, chief operating officer.
Smith will simultaneously serve in both roles, Fogg said. Zulick, a general surgeon, who has served as the hospital’s chief medical officer for the past 11 years plans to continue his surgical practice in the region.
“I am very confident that with both Dr. Zulick and Donna Smith in leadership roles we will continue to serve the needs of our community well and maintain our high standards in providing quality health care services,” Clinton Emery, co-chairman of the board at Clifton Springs, in a statement.
Fogg described Galati’s parting as “a mutual decision reached between him and the board.” After serving as the Ontario County hospital’s chief for the last18 years, Galati “ended his service with us on Friday,” Fogg said.
“We all recognize John’s contribution and appreciate his many years of dedication and service,” Emery said. “We extend to John our best wishes in his new endeavors.”
