About

When will nominations for the Forty Under 40 award open?

Nominations will open at the end of April.

How can I be considered for the Forty Under 40 award?

While anyone can nominate, we recommend nominations come from a senior leader in the candidate’s organization or another member of the non-profit board the candidate sits on. You can fill out the online form come the end of July, which will be found on the Forty Under 40 landing page on RBJdaily.com. A letter of recommendation is not required, but is strongly encouraged to assist the judges in making their decision.

To be eligible, applicants must live in or work in the Greater Rochester Area at the time of judging.

Can I save the nomination or application forms while I’m working on them?

Unfortunately you cannot at the moment, but we’re working to fix that. In the meantime, we suggest either filling out the forms on a separate sheet of paper first or be prepared to spend some time on the forms.

Who are the judges and what are they looking for when selecting the Forty Under 40?

A panel of judges consisting past winners from different professions select the Forty Under 40 Honorees. It is essential that the candidate prove a combination of excelling both professionally and at a board level in the community. It is helpful to have at least one letter of recommendation from someone that can speak to both of these achievements.

Should I have a letter of recommendation sent?

Past judges have told us that the letter(s) of recommendation is helpful particularly when they are not familiar with the candidate. Up to 3 letters of recommendations can be emailed to events@rbj.net. The letter will be paired to your application when it is received.

Can I buy a table?

You will be able to buy a table of 10 when honorees are announced and registration is opened on September 29th.

Are children allowed?

Children are allowed. After purchasing tickets, please email events@rbj.net to inform us that one or more of your guests are children so we can make appropriate menu and seating adjustments.

Do the winners sit with their guests during the program?

The winners sit with their guests during lunch but are seated on stage during the program with the other honorees.

Do the winners have to say something?

No speaking; the winners walk across the stage to accept their awards.

If I’m a winner, do I need to purchase a ticket?

You do not need to purchase a ticket for yourself if you are an honoree. All other attendees must purchase a ticket.

Can I buy an ad in the publication?

Please contact our advertising department at jgeiger@rbj.net to place an add or purchase a sponsorship package.
