RF Communications receives $11 million radio order

Harris Corp.’s RF Communications division in Rochester has received an $11 million order from a Latin American nation for its combat net radios. The radios will enable that country’s Army soldiers to communicate via voice, video and data as they conduct their missions, the company said.

Combat net radios are a primary tool for military communications around the world. The Harris radio supports simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users and offers technology that makes it easier to talk in high-noise or jammed communication environments, the firm said.

"This order will accelerate tactical radio modernization for this nation’s army by providing soldiers with highly portable voice and high-speed (very high frequency) data capabilities,” said Brendan O’Connell, president of RF Communications’ International Business unit, in a statement.

RF Communications has some 2,200 workers.
