Sinclair Broadcast Group. Inc. said Monday it has purchased the non-license-related assets of WHAM-TV 13 for $54 million.
The Maryland-based company (Nasdaq: SBGI) acquired the assets of the station in Henrietta from Newport Television LLC. Sinclair will provide sales and other non-programming services pursuant to a shared service and joint sales agreement, the company said.
Sinclair also said it obtained an option to acquire for the station’s license assets, which relate its Federal Communications Commission license, which still belong to Newport Television.
The deal for WHAM-TV closed effective, along with the acquisition of a handful of other stations across the country from Newport.
Sinclair owns and operates, programs or provides sales services to 84 television stations in 46 markets.
Its television group reaches some 27 percent of U.S. television households.
Newport Television acquired Clear Channel Television in 2008. It is based in Kansas City, Mo.
