Press Coffee Bar opens at the East End

Rochester Business Journal
May 16, 2014

Press Coffee Bar opened this week at 480 E. Main St. after four months of renovation.

Owner Damian Serafine returned to Rochester in August 2013 after spending 20 years in Phoenix.  It is the 10th opening of a coffee house for Serafine, who started coffee shops previously in Arizona. He also launched the first coffee cart in Phoenix in 1994. Press Coffee has four employees and expects to add two or three more this year.

Serafine’s family is based in Rochester. His brother Jerry owns Restaurant 2 Vine on Winthrop Street.  Press Coffee will roast its own coffee and offer a variety of specialty coffees, including Turkish coffee and French press.

The 1,400 square foot space is to showcase the work of local artists each week.

“I hope they come in and the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the quality is incredible,” Serafine said. “The taste of my coffee, I think, is the best. This is not a strip mall—it’s an urban coffeehouse.”
