More than 160 companies are expected to participate in Optifab 2013, running Monday through Thursday at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

The event is organized by SPIE, an international society advancing light-based research, and the American Precision Optics Manufacturers Association.

Optifab—held every two years—focuses on classical and advanced optical manufacturing technologies. It is geared toward industrial optics, optoelectronics, laser technology and other optical technologies.

The optics conference and trade show is attended by companies and people from around the world, including several local optics firms, organizers said.

The four-day event features exhibits, workshops, networking events and panel discussions. This year’s discussions focus on the future of metrology and getting hired in 2013 and beyond.
