Hispanic Business Association elects new chairman

The Rochester Hispanic Business Association has elected Hiram Hernandez Sr. as board chairman, the organization announced Friday.

Hernandez, chairman and CEO of First Capital Payments in Rochester, succeeds Grace Tillinghast, who remains on the board as vice chairman.

“I look forward to maintaining and increasing the RHBA’s involvement in the community and I want the association to become a forum that provides valuable updates to our members and friends,” Hernandez said in a statement.

A native of Puerto Rico, Hernandez was the organization’s Hispanic Business Person of the Year in 2008.

Vilma Burgos was elected board secretary and Sergio Ruffolo was elected treasurer. At-large members Javier Ayala, Sergio Esteban, Lisa Martinez DeVinney, Luis Ormaechea and Jose Santana also were elected.

Board members will serve two-year terms expiring Sept. 30, 2015.

The RHBA, founded in 1989, is an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance Inc.
