The Genesee Brewing Co. plans to spend $4.65 million on a new building and new equipment for beer production.
The brewery was approved Tuesday for sales tax exemptions of $60,008 by the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency, with a projected benefit to the community of $771,135.
The brewery employs 542, up nearly 200 from three years ago. One new job is expected to be created as a result of the project.
The brewery plans to construct a 3,500-square-foot building at its St. Paul Street location for a new pasteurizer and conveyor system. The building construction will cost nearly $1.9 million and the equipment will cost $3.9 million, the company said.
COMIDA also approved two hotel projects for E.J. Del Monte Corp. and three other projects.
It approved sales and mortgage tax breaks of $831,200 for Del Monte entity Elmwood Property at Collegetown LLC for the construction of a 136-room Hilton Garden Inn at Elmwood and Mt. Hope avenues as part of the University of Rochester’s College Town development. The projected community benefit is $1.9 million.
The $18 million project will result in a 107,700-square-foot facility on an acre of land, with 50 jobs to be created over three years, the company said.
The property will benefit from property tax abatements though College Town’s payment in lieu of taxes agreement approved in February.
E.J. Del Monte was approved for sales tax breaks totaling $122,048 for a $2.4 million conversion of a Courtyard by Marriott on Paddy Creek Circle in Greece to a Fairfield Inn by Marriott. The community benefit is projected at $118,650.
The renovation of the 78-room, 46,500-square-foot hotel will result in three new jobs over three years, officials said.
NOHMs Technologies Inc. was approved for property tax exemptions of $8,078 on its $252,450 investment in renovations, furniture and information technology for its research, development and advanced manufacturing facility at 1200 Ridgeway Ave. in the Eastman Business Park.
The community benefit is pegged at $225,044.
A developer of lithium-sulfur battery technology for markets such as spacecraft, drones and electric cars, NOHMs employs nine and expects to add two jobs.
Portland Avenue craft cocktail maker Fee Bros. was approved for property tax breaks of $53,141 for a $534,406 expansion of its Rochester facility. The projected benefit is $284,183.
Fee Bros.—a family-owned producer of cocktail mixes, botanical waters, brines, cordial syrups and bitters—reaches its 150th anniversary in March 2014.
The company plans to add 5,160 square feet to its 19,800-square-foot warehouse and production facility because business has tripled in the last seven years, co-owner Joseph Fee said.
The company expects to add two jobs to its workforce of 14.
The entity 491 Elmgrove Park LLC in Greece was approved for property tax exemptions of $33,146 for its $365,000 renovation of 14,000 square feet of commercial space. The benefit is projected at $177,238.
The upgraded building will house several businesses, including a mattress manufacturer and insurance, asphalt paving and maintenance firms. Three jobs will be added to the current three employees.
