RF Communications lands Air Force order

Rochester Business Journal
November 6, 2012

Harris Corp.’s RF Communications division in Rochester has received a $10.8 million order from the U.S. Air Force for additional radios that will provide enhanced capabilities for tactical communications.

George Helm, president of RF Communications’ Department of Defense business, said the equipment will provide joint terminal attack controllers and other Air Force personnel with real time voice and data communications.

“This will lead to greater situational awareness, which is critical for forward-deployed combat controllers,” Helm said in a statement.

The announcement follows one Tuesday in which the company landed an $8.7 million order for vehicular intercom systems from a nation in the Middle East.

RF Communications employs some 2,300 local workers.
