New-car sales up in April compared with last year

New-car sales in Monroe County were up more than 9 percent in April compared with a year ago, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Dealers sold 3,693 new cars and trucks last month, up from 3,376 in April 2012. Sale were down  nearly 12 percent from 4,181 in March. Sales of new vehicles have decreased from March to April locally, RADA historical data shows.

Used-car sales were 2,104 in April, compared with 2,095 in March and 2,190 a year ago.

Monroe County auto dealers sold 5,797 new and used vehicles last month, up 4 percent from 5,566 in April 2012, but down nearly 8 percent from 6,276 in March.

Some 21,460 vehicles were sold in the first four months of 2013, compared with 21,193 in the same time frame 2011.
