Rochester will play host to a 10-day festival of hockey in December that features a slate of outdoor hockey games for local teams.
The hockey event is slated for Dec. 13 to Dec. 22, and will features games at Frontier Field for the Rochester Americans and the Rochester Institute of Technology men’s and women’s hockey teams. Several teams from Section V high schools and alumni from the Buffalo Sabres and Rochester Americans also will play outdoor games.
“We are extremely excited to work with our community partners in bringing outdoor hockey to Rochester,” said Ted Black, president of the Rochester Americans and Buffalo Sabres. “While the chance to play an outdoor game will be an exciting opportunity for our players and coaches, the event as a whole will allow the entire community to share in a special experience.”
Naomi Silver, the president, CEO and COO of Rochester Community Baseball, said the event is meant to “create lifelong memories for fans.”
Ticket information will be released at a later date, but event organizers noted that season ticket holders of the Rochester Americans and Rochester Red Wings will be assured availability to tickets.
