Hart’s Local Grocers will open officially on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. It is the first grocery store to open downtown in more than a decade.

“I am thrilled that our vision for a full-service, downtown grocery store is finally coming to life,” said Glenn Kellogg, founder and president of Hart’s Local Grocers in a statement. “With the help of a great team and support from Canandaigua National Bank & Trust and the city of Rochester, Hart’s Local Grocers is ready to fulfill our promise of serving Rochester and celebrating this region’s great food.”

Housed in a 20,000-square-foot building on 10 Winthrop St., the store will feature more than 50 local vendors alongside national brands as a full-service grocery. More than 50 employees have been hired.

The business will be open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. There are 130 parking lot spaces for customers, officials said.

More than 1,500 people have signed up for Hart’s Rewards Cards, which will be mailed in advance of opening weekend, officials said.

Renovation of the building began in March
. Craig Autometrics, a repair and body shop, was the previous occupant of the building.
