Sales-tax revenues in region rose 2% in 2013

Sales-tax revenues for counties in the Finger Lakes region increased 2 percent in 2013, with collections statewide increasing 5.2 percent from 2012, a report from the state comptroller’s office shows.

Monroe, Livingston and Ontario counties each had increases of less than 3 percent in 2013, the report states. Genesee and Wayne counties had increases of 3 percent to 6 percent.

Revenues in Orleans County declined by less than 3 percent.

Collections statewide totaled $14.9 billion, up 5.2 percent or by $739 million from 2012, the report shows. Revenues increased by 3.3 percent in 2012 and by 5 percent in 2011. The annual growth rate over the last 15 years is 4.5 percent.
