Frontier employees, retirees contribute during holidays

Frontier Communications Corp. employees and Frontier Pioneers have spent the past few months playing host to events to raise funds for the community.

Frontier Pioneers is a volunteer group comprised of hundreds of current and retired Frontier Employees.

Some of the ways the company and the group helped the community in December included:

  • donating 40 pairs of gloves, and hats and toiletries to the Salvation Army of Rochester:
  • supporting the Catholic Family Center, adopting 13 families and 50 children;
  • filling the requirements of one Ronald McDonald house with items needed for the families who will be staying at the facility near Strong Memorial Hospital;
  • outfitting children with winter coats through the Salvation Army “Project Bundle Up” program; and
  • purchasing holiday gifts for 76 children and teens, plus a family of five via the Adopt-a-Child Program with Golisano Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.

In November the Frontier team collected 23 holiday baskets for Thanksgiving, working with the Small Business Council of Rochester. More than 50 volunteers supported the Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving feast.

“Throughout the year, Frontier employees and the Frontier Pioneers demonstrate their commitment to the Rochester community,” said Philip Yawman, vice president and general manager of Frontier’s Rochester market. “Most especially during the holidays, they truly step up to meet the needs of the community and help those in need enjoy this special time of the year.”
