More than 30,000 people are expected to trek to the Rochester Institute of Technology campus on Saturday for the university’s annual celebration of innovation.
Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival is being held Saturday, kicking off with the E-Durance Challenge in Simone Circle at 9 a.m. The daylong festival features more than 400 interactive exhibits in science, technology and the arts along with food and live entertainment.
The university’s embrace of innovation earned it two honors from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The organization awarded Imagine RIT with a gold medal for community relations and a gold medal in best practices in communications.
The festival was first held in 2008, and has become what RIT officials call its “signature branding event.” More than 140,000 people have attended since the first year of the festival.
