RG&E offers incentives for energy-saving initiatives

Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. has incentives totaling $2.4 million for non-residential customers and third-party aggregators that develop energy-saving initiatives.

Project proposals must save at least 100,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and deliver savings within 12 months of executing a contract to implement the project, RG&E officials said this week. The package of incentives covers nearly 8.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity savings.

“Energy conservation is important to us, and we join the Public Service Commission in encouraging all customers to increase efficiency and save energy,” RG&E president Mark Lynch said in a statement.

Incentives of $4 million from RG&E have helped save 19 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first two years of the program, officials said. Incentives of $5 million from New York State Electric & Gas Corp. have saved another 16 million hours.

The winning bids have come from 150 projects from 60 customers in the RG&E and NYSEG service areas, officials said.

Proposals must be submitted by March 11. A copy of the request for proposals is available at www.rge.com.
