Transcat Inc. has acquired Cal-Matrix Inc., a Canadian provider of calibrations and coordinate inspection services. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Transcat, an Ogden-based service provider and distributor of calibration and measurement instruments, said the acquisition greatly will expand Transcat’s presence in Southern Ontario and give the company a lab in Montreal. The deal was announced late Friday afternoon.

“We continue on our strategy of growing our service segment both organically and through acquisitions,” Transcat CEO Charles Hadeed said in a statement. “This acquisition gives us a significant presence in Canada’s ‘Golden Horseshoe’ area, which includes Hamilton, Burlington and Toronto.”

Cal-Matrix is based in Burlington, in the Toronto area.

Transcat shares (Nasdaq: TRNS) were trading Monday morning at $6.55, up a nickel from Friday’s close.
