The High Falls Center and Interpretive Museum, whose funding was eliminated in the city of Rochester’s 2013-14 budget, is operating in partnership with the Rochester Public Library and the Office of the City Historian, city officials announced Monday.
The city’s contract with the center expired in July and was not renewed.
The library’s board of trustees last month approved a budget amendment of $25,400 to support the conversion of a part-time position to temporary full-time, and for additional hours for support staff.
The center, at 74-78 Brown’s Race, was created under a Preservation Covenant with New York State and supported by funds from the Environmental Quality Bond Act, officials said. The city had operated it since October 1992, transferring oversight to the library and historian’s office in July.
The center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
