The Democrat and Chronicle Media Group has selected a site on East Main Street at South Clinton Avenue for its new business headquarters. The company’s production facility will remain in Greece, company officials said Tuesday.
The site, which is adjacent to the new downtown site for Windstream Corp., is being developed by the Pike Co. Inc.
A letter of intent has been signed with details subject to finalization of business terms, officials said. The lease includes the first and second floors of the building, which make up nearly 42,000 square feet. The space is to serve as home for the media group’s news, advertising, marketing, digital strategy and business operations, as well as the regional headquarters for Gannett Co. Inc.’s US Community Publishing’s East Group.
“We are excited to start this next chapter in our growth and transformation as a local media company in a modern space,” said Michael Kane, president and publisher of the media group and president of Gannett US Community Publishing East Group.
The company’s existing location on Exchange Boulevard, which is nearly 154,000 square feet, is to be sold through CBRE Corporate Real Estate.
