Paul Holahan, commissioner of the Department of Environmental Services for the city of Rochester since 2006, has been appointed finance director for the town of Greece, officials said Friday.

Holahan worked for the town from 1978 to 1999, including as finance director in his final year, Supervisor-elect William Reilich said in a statement.

“I am thrilled to have Paul join me and my administrative team at Town Hall as he returns to his roots in the town of Greece,” said Reilich, a state Assembly representative who was elected supervisor in November.

Holahan’s tenure as DES commissioner began in 2006 after Robert Duffy was elected mayor. Prior to that, he was commissioner of public works for the town of Irondequoit and vice president of operations for the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority.

Mayor-elect Lovely Warren has appointed Norman Jones as DES commissioner in her administration. He currently is director of the Bureau of Operations and Parks.
