The Buffalo Bills have hired a design firm to oversee $130 million in renovations at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the National Football League team said Thursday.

Populous, a global design and architectural firm whose U.S. headquarters is in Kansas City, will do the work. The Bills used the firm last year for a feasibility study on stadium improvements.

The upgrades include new video display boards and other technology throughout the Orchard Park stadium; a plaza on the west end of the stadium; renovated and expanded concessions and restrooms; and improvements to the team’s training facility.

“The proposed changes will significantly enhance the fan experience and bring new energy into the historic building,” Scott Radecic, senior principal at Populous and a former Bills linebacker, said in a statement posted on the Bills’ website.

Most of the work will be completed in 2014, with some extending into 2015, the team said.
