Thomas Golisano has made a significant contribution to Bishop Kearney High School to establish a new scholarship fund, school officials announced Thursday.

The unspecified gift went to create the B. Thomas Golisano Scholarship Fund, which school officials said will enable more students to attend the school. Awards will be given on the basis of academic ability and financial need and will go up to the full cost of tuition.

Thomas O'Neil, Bishop Kearney president and CEO, said Golisano's contribution continues his long-term support of the school. Golisano's previous support includes a partnership to establish the College Prep curriculum, which was launched in 2007.

"Mr. Golisano supports and believes in our educational model, and his generous contribution will make a Kearney education available to many more students," O'Neil said in a statement.
