New car sales down from February 2012

New and used car sales in Monroe County improved from January to February but fell compared with February a year ago, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Dealers sold 3,043 new vehicles last month, up nearly 5 percent from 2,906 in January, but down nearly 6 percent from 3,227 a year ago. Used-car sales jumped nearly 7 percent from 1,663 in January to 1,775 in February, but were down from 1,895 in February 2012.

Sales of new and used vehicles typically improve from January to February, RADA historical data shows.

Monroe County dealers sold 4,818 vehicles last month, up more than 5 percent from 4,569 in January, but down some 6 percent from 5,122 in February 2012. Some 9,387 new and used cars and trucks have been sold this year, compared with 9,250 in the first two months of 2012.
