Local footwear company Fanshoes Inc. has been named an official licensee for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The company, founded by 33-year-old Ghana-native and Rochester-resident Gabriel Ankamafio-Adjei, began by making causal slip-on shoes featuring licensed collegiate logos.
“Upon moving to the U.S., I saw a market booming with all kinds of fanatic merchandise wear for all sporting fans,” Ankamafio-Adjei said. “What wasn’t common were logoed footwear which perfectly complements products already on the market.”
The Fanshoes for the World Cup will feature designs for the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Germany, Italy, England, Spain and the Netherlands. The company will also produce accessories to match the footwear such as sunglasses, scarves, towels and swimwear.
“We are the only company who will have our product available in both North and South American markets for the FIFA World Cup,” Ankamafio-Adjei said.
Fanshoes’ World Cup line will be available in North America, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, with plans to distribute in Central America, as well.
