United Way's ROC The Day exceeds $350,000

The United Way of Greater Rochester Inc.’s ROC The Day campaign has raised more than $350,000 by midafternoon Wednesday, giving a fundraising boost to local non-profit organizations.

ROC The Day is a one-day event intended to raise money for a number of local organizations on a grand scale. United Way officials run the event through a central website,, which keeps a running count on the number of donations and total money raised.

The United Way also offers other incentives, such as extra $1,000 bonuses every hour for randomly selected organizations.

By midday on Wednesday, ROC The Day had raised $358,487 on 6,252 total donations.
