Ukrainian Federal Credit Union opens branch

Ukrainian Federal Credit Union opened a second office this week in the Rochester market.

The Irondequoit-based credit union christened the branch Monday at 900 Holt Rd.in Webster.

“We are very pleased to add another branch office in the Rochester area in order to meet the needs of our existing members and offer services to new members,” CEO Oleg Lebedko said in a statement released Thursday.

UFCR was founded in 1953 in Ukrainian-Americans in Rochester. It has 6,500 members in the area, including 1,000 in Webster, and employs 34 locally, officials said.

The Webster branch employs three.

The credit union also has branches in Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany in New York, and in Sacramento, Calif., Boston, Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash.

It serves 18,000 members and employs 70 nationwide, officials said.

UFCU ranks seventh on the Rochester Business Journal’s most recent list of credit unions in the area, based on total assets of $170 million.
