Constellation donates $100K to Napa disaster relief fund

Constellation Brands Inc. is making a $100,000 donation to the Napa Valley Vintners’ Community Disaster Relief Fund to provide immediate support to that community.

Funding will be available for one-time immediate needs as well as short-term assistance for temporary housing and basic needs such as food, water and medical care.

On Aug. 24, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Northern California, damaging parts of the Napa Valley.

"Our company has a longstanding tradition of giving back in the communities where we live and work, and while we are grateful that our Constellation facilities and families experienced only minor damage during the earthquake, many of our neighbors were not as fortunate," said Robert Sands, Constellation Brands’ president and CEO, in a statement. "As members of the community and Napa Valley Vintners, we are proud to join in leading the relief effort and hope to assist those hit hardest by this natural disaster."

In addition, Constellation is encouraging employees, visitors and wine club members to donate non-perishable goods at the wineries.  These items will be collected and donated to the local Napa food banks now through the end of September. Constellation employees will also be encouraged to support the recovery efforts and help match the company`s donation.
