The Greater Rochester International Airport will get $1.4 million to lengthen a taxiway by 850 feet, officials announced Tuesday.

The discretionary federal grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Perinton, said.

“I will continue to support investments in transportation infrastructure and the jobs that come with those projects,” Slaughter said in a statement.

The Rochester airport received nearly $2.8 million last year for taxiway rehabilitation, runway safety and a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle.
