MedAmerica Insurance Co. directors have named Bill Naylon as the long-term care insurer’s president, Lifetime Healthcare Cos. Inc. officials said Thursday.

A 26-year veteran of MedAmerica and its sister Lifetime Healthcare subsidiary, Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield, Naylon had headed MedAmerica as acting president since last December when his predecessor, Bill Jones, retired.

“Bill understands our expectations for MedAmerica and has already taken meaningful actions to position MedAmerica for long-term sustainability,” said Christopher Booth, CEO of Lifetime Healthcare and Excellus.

A for-profit company, MedAmerica last year collected $161.3 million in premium revenues, generated total revenues of $258.3 million and earned net income of $9.7 million.
