The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has selected the University of Rochester School of Nursing as a grant recipient in the foundation’s New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program, university officials said Wednesday.

Under the scholarship program—run jointly by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing—the UR nursing school gets $130,000 to support 13 students in accelerated bachelors and master’s degree nursing programs.

The New Careers in Nursing Scholarship program aims to increase the U.S. supply of nurses, expand capacity in bachelors and master’s degree nursing programs, increase diversity in the U.S. nursing workforce and add to the new-faculty pipeline of U.S. nursing schools.
The award of NCIN money for the 2013-’14 school year marks the sixth year in a row that the UR School of Nursing has won a New Careers in Nursing grant, making it the only U.S. nursing school to be so favored in six consecutive rounds.
