Natcore Technology Inc. will add 27 jobs at its research and development facility at the Eastman Business Park as part of a $914,000 expansion, officials announced Friday.
The new jobs will pay $98,000 annually, officials said.
The 20,000-square-foot expansion of the Greece facility will be supported by $500,000 in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits over 10 years through the Empire State Development Corp.
It will allow the company to commercialize its black silicon technology, officials said.
“We already have our eye on the first new hire afforded by this program, with more to come,” President and CEO Charles Provini said. “We are making major equipment investments. We are moving from university-based research into the real world.”
The Red Bank, N.J.-based company has 17 process patents and 13 pending. The work will improve the efficiency of solar panels and lower the cost of production, officials said.
“Today’s announcement reveals more high-tech jobs and yet another economic boost at the Eastman Business Park, which will have a great impact in Rochester and the entire region,” Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy said.
