Area companies have been named to the list of the 50 Best Companies to Work for in New York State for 2013.

The Pike Co. Inc. was the area’s only entry on the list of large companies, those with 250 employees or more.

Included on the list of small to midsize companies were Fibertech Networks LLC, First American Equipment Finance, Genesee Regional Bank, HR Works Inc., LeCesse Construction Co. Inc., Pharos Systems International Inc., UTC Retail, Vanteon Corp. and Veramark Technologies, Inc.

“Inclusion on this list is a testament to the strong culture we’ve built, with our employees focused on delivering an unparalleled level of service to our clients, and to each other,” said Philip Pecora, Genesee Regional Bank president and CEO. “This has truly been the main driver of our success.”

Another firm, Annese & Associates Inc., which has had an office in the Rochester area since 1977, was honored among the small to midsize firms, as well.

The program is a partnership of NYS Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, Journal Multimedia Corp. and the Business Council of New York.

The awards are sponsored by Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan and Jackson Lewis LLP.

To be eligible, companies had to enter a two-part survey process and meet certain eligibility requirements. The company must have at least one facility in New York, have at least 15 employees working in the state and be in business for at least one year.

The winning organizations were honored Tuesday at a public awards dinner in Albany.
