Deadline set for agricultural district additions

Rochester Business Journal
February 28, 2013

Monroe County property owners have until March 29 to request agricultural land be added to an established agricultural district.

Parcels must contain at least 51 percent viable agricultural land, county officials said this week. Only whole tax parcels can be included.

After March 29, the requests will be referred to the Monroe County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, which has 30 days to report on the proposed additions and make a recommendation to the Monroe County Legislature.

A public hearing on the matter will be scheduled for a meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee prior to the legislative decision.

For application forms and details, contact Robert King at the Monroe Community College Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute at rking@monroecc.edu.
