Fairport Baptist Homes selects CEO

Fairport Baptist Homes Caring Ministries has decided to keep its interim president and CEO in the position on a permanent basis.

The organization said Thomas Poelma has been appointed. He has served in the post on an interim basis since May. Poelma, who had served as chief financial officer and administrator at Fairport Baptist Homes, has a 26-year tenure with the organization and was beneficial in shifting it from a medical model to a small group household/neighborhood concept, officials said.

As CFO, Poelma oversaw an operational budget of more than $20 million.

“He has demonstrated the right kind of business acumen and operational leadership that will allow FBHCM to continue to provide quality services to seniors in a very competitive environment,” Chairman Joe Anderson said. “His 20-plus years of experience in the senior care industry and his understanding of the FBH community makes him the best fit to lead the organization.”

Poelma said he is excited to lead the organization as it grows its community programs and housing services.

“I look forward to working with FBHCM staff to embrace the impending shift to managed care and to manage its impact on long-term care programs,” Poelma said.
